When a Major League design was desired for the Dow Diamond in downtown Midland, the SPACE, Inc. team was asked to step up to the plate. The job required selecting, ordering, delivering and installing the furniture for the 5,000 seat Minor League baseball stadium within a timeframe of less than five months. That meant seamlessly incorporating a custom look throughout the corporate suites, locker rooms, ticket offices and picnic areas before opening day.
Senior team members from SPACE worked together to create a game-winning plan that ensured that the job was done on time and on budget. Jessie Donahue was the lead interior designer and was responsible for all of the interior finishes, creating carpet layouts and selecting all of the office furniture. Lisa Hulbert, International Interior Design Association, collaborated with individual suite owners and focused on suite floor lobby areas, while Kathie Fuce-Hobohm concentrated on the outdoor picnic and hospitality areas.
The Client’s Response
“Bringing Minor League baseball to the region was a major achievement and generated a lot of excitement in mid-Michigan, so when we were designing the facility we wanted to make sure it delivered a high-quality experience and that it was ready to open in time for the first season. The team at SPACE helped create a distinctive regional attraction and was able to meet a challenging time line.” – Paul Barbeau, President and General Manager of the Great Lakes Loons and ESPN 100.9 FM Midland
